01 / The book

The paperback of Letters from Somewhere, front and back. The back cover carries the book’s description, the ISBN and the Paperville imprint.

A heart that remembers, feels, and keeps becoming.

The people we carry.
The selves we become.

Some words were never said. Some feelings never left. Letters from Somewhere is a collection of raw, honest reflections, written with a heart that remembers, feels, and keeps becoming.

Onyinyechi Ogbuju writes to a father she understands better now than she did then, to a mother whose love still holds on, to siblings and old loves, to the ones she lost and has not stopped speaking to, and to a husband and children she has yet to meet. It is a journey through love, loss, gratitude, growth, and everything in between. There is room here for your own unfinished feelings, too.

Letters from Somewhere01

From Me to You

These are letters to everyone who has been a part of me, who is still a part of me, and who will be a part of me.

So, what has been done is being done, and will be done.

Hence, you have given me something to write about, something you have left or taken away from me, and I will write to you all.

From me to you

From the opening note
Onyinyechi Ogbuju, known as Maja, author of Letters from Somewhere

From memory. From the heart. From somewhere.

03 / The voice behind the letters

Onyinyechi Ogbuju

Writer. Poet. Known as Maja.

Onyinyechi Maryjane Ogbuju is a Nigerian writer and poet whose work explores love, solitude, grief, memory, and becoming. Through letters, free verse, and reflective fragments, she gives language to emotions that can be difficult to name.

She is the founder of The Paperville City, which began as a book club in November 2021 and grew into a literary community and publishing house.

In Letters from Somewhere, she gathers the people she has carried and the versions of herself she is still learning to understand.
